Meet our Constantia Dog of the Month – Teddy
Young Theodore was not always a Dog of The Constantia Vineyard Lifestyle, his life started off in a rather unfortunate way. Found in a trash bin by a Stellenbosch student on the 30th May 2013, at the tender age of 5 weeks old, Teddy had no way of realizing his life would change and the light at the end of the tunnel would be the best ‘forever home’ any pooch could ask for.
The ‘Stellies’ student, could unfortunately not take care of Teddy herself, so took him to DARG where she felt he would have a better opportunity to a better life. Which it turns out couldn’t be any better than he had dreamed…
When Kaylee Morrick of Eagles Nest Wine Farm and her husband decided to adopt a Puppy, they too were not expecting how it would all unfold. Kaylee fell in love with another dog at DARG and felt he was ‘the one’ however, the feeling was unfortunately not mutual for that little guy. Her husband Trevor decided that he too would go and visit this pup and see, for himself, if this was the one for them. Keeping in mind that Kaylee was gutted by this one-sided relationship, Trevor decided to keep an open mind. Trevor came across Teddy, a cross between a cross of nobody is sure what but the sweetest face and personality anyone could resist. So Trevor headed home to tell Kaylee he has found ‘the one’ and she decides to give it another shot.
When Kaylee and Teddy first met, it was a match made in doggy heaven. He curled up in her jacket hood and that’s where he slept all the way to his new forever home.
2 years on and Teddy now waits at the door each morning to head out to work at the Eagles Nest Tasting Room. He welcomes the guests, patrols the area and if you are lucky, will pose for a picture or two.
Whether you visit Eagles Nest for a Wine Tasting or sit in the serene garden and enjoy a platter, you’ll either see Teddy cosying up to the fireplace or exploring through the lush greenery. This is no ordinary dog, Teddy is by far, a friend to all of us for life.
