What many local foodies and socialites haven’t yet realized is that the old favourite “Peddlars on the Bend” has a brand new idea behind it in 2016.
That’s right folks, under the culinary guidance of top Cape Town chef, Brad Ball, Peddlars & Co. is ready to compete with some of the most frequented and celebrated food spots in the area. “How?” You might ask. “Isn’t Peddlars a glorified pub with a nice garden – ideal for Saturday rugby matches?”
With four new restaurants under one renowned roof, this business is going places and drawing a range of customers who are excited to try out its range of tapas, fine food, gourmet pub fair and al fresco menus. Peddlars has also expanded its wine list, and cellars, to flaunt some of Constantia, not to mention the Western Cape’s, finest wines and bubblies. Impressive craft beer and cocktail lists are no surprise either and an easy bowl of delicious potato skins with sour cream and homemade chili are in easy reach before the main affair.
Peddlars is also one of the few local restaurants that grows its own produce, in support of the sustainable, farm-to-table approach that many diners have come to appreciate in the last few years. ‘The farm’ as Chef Brad and the team refer to it, is a beautifully lush veggie garden just behind the building where a range of organic vegetables, herbs and garnishes are plucked seasonally for use in every dish on the menu.
There’s something for everyone at the new Peddlars & Co and you’ll always be greeted by friendly, enthusiastic staff, your drink of choice, a warm fire and a delicious, different plate of food every time you visit.
